- BUXA FORT
Located atop the Buxa Hill at an elevation of 2600 feet and approximately 30 km from Alipurduar, 
Buxa Fort holds a significant historical presence. The fort was a subject of dispute between the King of Bhutan and the Cooch Kings for an extended period. Eventually, at the end of the eighteenth century, the British intervened at the invitation of the Cooch King and successfully captured the fort. Under British administration, the fort underwent a transformation from its original bamboo wood structure to a sturdy stone construction.
